Born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley, Michael A. McGurk returned to McAllen, Texas in 1996 to begin his legal career with the predecessor firm to Kittleman, Thomas & Gonzales, LLP ("KTG"). Now a partner with KTG, Michael has successfully litigated a broad range of complex civil cases on behalf of plaintiffs involving catastrophic injuries and wrongful death, and on both sides of the docket in cases involving business torts, real estate, consumer fraud, lender liability, employment and commercial collection. Michael has successfully tried numerous cases both first and second chair before juries in Hidalgo County as well as trials before Courts throughout South Texas in matters often involving millions of dollars.  Michael was selected as a SuperLawyer in 2008.

Michael attended the University of Texas at Austin where he obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Economics. Michael then graduated from Oklahoma City University Law School where he was a member of the Faculty Honor Roll, Moot Court Board (Finalist) and the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honors Fraternity. Michael was also awarded the PESI Excellence Award for highest grades awarded in Commercial Transactions and Texas Pre-Trial Litigation.

Michael is licensed to practice law in all courts of the State of Texas, as well as in the United States District Courts for the Western and Southern Districts of Texas. Michael has served as an officer and director of the Hidalgo County Young Lawyers Association (2000-2007), is President-elect of the Hidalgo County Bar Association/Foundation, and has served as an officer and director since 2005.  He is also a member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association (Communications Committee), and the Texas Association of Bank Counsel.

Michael is active in the community and his public service involvement includes Leadership McAllen Class XVIII, a former member of the McAllen Airport Advisory Board of Directors and he regularly does pro bono legal work for citizens in the community.  Michael and his wife, Veronica, live in Edinburg with their two sons.
