Rebecca Vela McAllen, Texas
Rebecca Vela is a native of the Rio Grande Valley. She has handled litigation of civil suits, including cases involving personal and catastrophic injury, products liability, toxic torts, and commercial litigation, with a primary focus on personal injury and commercial litigation. Rebecca graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor's degree in English in 1995 and received her law degree from Baylor School of Law in 1998. Rebecca is licensed to practice law in the courts of the State of Texas as well as the United States District Court for the Southern and Western Districts of Texas. Rebecca is active in the Hidalgo County Bar Association where she has served several terms as a director and an officer. Currently, she is serving as President of the Hidalgo County Bar Association for 2006-2007. She has also served as both a Director and an officer with the Hidalgo County Young Lawyers Association, and served as President in 2005-2006. Rebecca also serves on the Board of Advocates and the Membership Committee of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association. Rebecca was recently elected to represent her region as Director for District 13 of the Texas Young Lawyers Association. Rebecca has been recognized twice as a "Rising Star" by her peers in 2005 and 2007, Law & Politics/Texas Monthly magazines. Rebecca performs pro bono work and has volunteered her time to judge the Region One High School Mock Trial Competition and as a lawyer volunteer for the "A Su Lado" call a lawyer program on the local Univision affiliate. Rebecca is fluent in Spanish.
