Damon C. Garcia
Damon was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. He attended Texas A&M University and graduated from The University of Texas at San Antonio where he served as the Student Body President and co-founder of the university’s award winning moot court team. In Damon’s first moot court competition his team from UTSA defeated the well established teams of both UT-Austin and Texas A&M University at the Texas Undergraduate Moot Court Association (TUMCA) State Competition. Also, while an undergraduate student he was very active as an officer of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity and is a Frank J. Ruck National Leadership Award recipient. He attended the Ruck Leadership Institute at The College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia as one of four students from Texas.
As a law student at Ave Maria School of Law in Ann Arbor, Michigan Damon served as one of two Senators representing his class on the Student Bar Association. He was also elected to represent all law students as the Chairman of the law school’s prestigious Honor Board, which adjudicates academic dishonesty cases. Damon served as one on five officers on the St. Thomas More Society board responsible for overseeing all student organizations at the law school. He excelled in his Trial Advocacy course taught by Circuit Court Judge Daniel P. Ryan of the 3rd Circuit Court in Michigan. As a 3L, Damon was selected to represent indigent clients of the Washtenaw County Public Defender’s Office through a special provision of Michigan law. Damon also found time to serve as a lay missionary with the Oblates of Mary Immaculate in Mexico City.
Before joining Kittleman, Thomas & Gonzales and receiving his law degree, Damon worked as a law clerk for Judge Robert N. Scola, Jr. formerly on Florida's Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court and now federal judge on the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. After law school, Damon clerked for Deffenbaugh & Lange, P.L.L.C. in San Antonio, Texas and practiced law as a sole practitioner. While working as a sole practitioner, Damon attended graduate business school and trained for the United States Marine Corps Officer Candidates School. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus where he served as the Advocate representing his local council and was a regular volunteer at the St. Francis Nursing Home.
Damon and his wife, Kristen, have settled in the Rio Grande Valley and intend to raise a family in McAllen, Texas. They attend Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.
