McAllen Appellate Law Attorneys

Courts of Appeals. Texas Supreme Court. Original Proceedings.

Our McAllen appellate law attorneys provide clients with experienced representation in the courts of appeals and the Texas Supreme Court. We represent a variety of interests in these higher courts, from banks and corporations to small businesses to ordinary individuals. We have successfully upheld summary judgments, jury verdicts, injunctions and other orders. And, when necessary, we have also successfully appealed and overturned judgments and other rulings by lower courts. Our work includes appeals from final judgments as well as interlocutory appeals.

Our appellate lawyers also have experience in handling original proceedings in the courts of appeals and the Texas Supreme Court. Such work includes arbitration provisions, venue rulings, forum-selection clauses, death penalty sanctions, and a variety of other actions taken by lower courts.

Appellate work does not always begin in the appellate courts. Our appellate attorneys also have tremendous experience in error preservation in the trial courts, summary judgment practice, special appearances, default judgments, dismissals for want of prosecution, motions to strike expert witnesses, and other motions and procedures which could have the effect of disposing of the case in the trial court.

The attorneys who comprise our appellate section are David H. Jones and Tracy A. Spillman. David H. Jones has over 15 years experience in handling appeals and original proceedings and has presented matters before the Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, and Corpus Christi courts of appeals as well as the Texas Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Tracy A. Spillman worked on the Corpus Christi Court of Appeals for four years as Justice Frederico Hinojosa's Senior Attorney before joining our firm in January, 2007. Both attorneys are well known for their thoughtful, innovative and well-organized writing skills, as well as their presentation of oral argument.
